INTRODUCTION:

Consequent to the cadre restructuring and re-organisation of field formations under Central Board of Excise & Customs in 2014, NACIN Cochin, Zonal Campus, (then NACEN, Regional Training Institute) was established under the charge of an Additional Director General in October 2014 to meet the training needs of Central Excise and Customs, Kerala Zone. The formal inauguration of RTI (now ZC) was on 15.12.2014.

The training programmes conducted by ZC Cochin are on topics of GST, Central Excise, Customs, Narcotics and allied Acts. In addition to the officers of CBIC, NACIN, Cochin extends its services to the officers of Kerala State GST department and Union territory of Lakshadweep as well. Moreover, the Indian Coast Guard Officers (Assistant Commandant new recruits and subordinate officers) are also trained on Customs and Narcotics work. Customs Officers are trained by Coast Guard Regional Training Centre through NACIN ZTI, Cochin. Furthermore, the Zonal Campus conducts outreach programmes for different trade organisations with a purpose to spread awareness about GST and rules and regulations under the Customs Act.

NACIN, Cochin was functioning under the additional Charge of ADG, Zonal Training Institute, Hyderabad till September, 2016. Dr. Mathew Jolly, Additional Director General was in charge of the ZC from September 2016 to 26.07.2019. Shri. Manish Chandra, Additional Director General took charge of the ZC on 06.08.2019.
