The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) was established in 1955 as a Central Training School in Delhi. In 1969, the Directorate of Training was created and the Training School came under its aegis. Thereafter, training was conducted at the premises of K-15 Hauz Khas (1969 to 1976), Rajendra Place (1976 to 1979), K-5 Hauz Khas (1979 to 1981), Pushpa Bhavan, Madangir (1981-1996) and the Headquarter of the academy finally moved to a campus in Faridabad in 1996. It was renamed the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) in 1989, and later again renamed as the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) vide Office Order No. 06/Ad.IV/2017 dated 12.06.2017 issued vide F. No. A-11013/17/2017-AD.IV. The Faridabad campus was the organization's headquarters until early 2024 when the new, larger campus in Palasamudram, Andhra Pradesh was inaugurated, making the Faridabad location a zonal campus. The said order details NACIN's role in training and capacity-building in Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics, including induction and specialized training for officers, and training for State/UT officers.
