Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, addressed Civil Services Officer Trainees at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN), Palasamudram, Andhra Pradesh, today.

The Vice-President recalled the inauguration of the new NACIN campus by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2024, noting that the institution has emerged as a premier centre for capacity-building in Customs and GST administration.

Speaking on the role of civil servants in achieving Viksit Bharat @2047, he underscored the importance of last-mile delivery, teamwork, and inclusive growth.

He urged officers to prioritise team excellence over individual excellence, and emphasised the need for continuous learning and reform-oriented thinking.

Encouraging trainees to embrace emerging technologies—AI, NLP, ML, Blockchain—the Vice-President said technology offers immense opportunities for transparency, efficiency, and citizen service delivery. He described IGOT Karmayogi as an “excellent platform” for anytime, anywhere capacity-building.

A significant milestone was marked at NACIN Palasamudram with the inauguration of the Training Programme (17.11.2025–28.11.2025) for the Technical Members of the GST Appellate Tribunal.

The ceremony opened with a motivating Welcome Address by Dr. M. Subramaniam, Director General, NACIN, setting the stage for a focused learning experience. The Social Service Committee of the Special Foundation Course batch organised a career counselling session for mess/security staff members and their children at NACIN Palasamudram. The Special Foundation Course (SFC) 2025 was inaugurated today at NACIN, Palasamudram by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Director General, NACIN, in the presence of Shri Sriram Taranikanti, Director, LBSNAA. The SFC is being conducted from 8th September to 5th December 2025 for candidates selected through the Civil Services Examination 2023. The Officer Trainees belong to 11 different All India and Central Civil Services. The programme is designed to lay strong foundations for their long and distinguished careers in public service.

A 6-member delegation from the Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC), led by Shri Deba Prasad Misra, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of Assam (ARTP&PG) & Director, AASC, visited #NACIN.

The delegation explored NACIN’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Digital Immersive Lab, Digital Learning Lab, Marine Customs Lab, IPR Lab and held discussions on the NSCSTI framework for Accreditation of CSTIs.

Discussions focused on the training design, infrastructure and functioning of NACIN as per the NSCSTI framework and the incremental role in building future-ready officers. The visit also highlighted NACIN’s commitment to institutional excellence aligned with CBIC's vision.

The Officer Trainees of the 76th Batch of IRS (Customs and Indirect Taxes) organised a Health & Career Awareness Session at a Government Girls Residential School, Chikkaballapur.

The session covered hygiene, mental health, menstrual health, drug awareness, and career guidance. Around 250 students were screened for eye issues, with follow-up care and free spectacles to be provided by Sai Madhusudan Hospital.

On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day, the Sustainability Committee of the 76th Batch of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) conducted a heartfelt awareness session for the local housekeeping staff, security personnel, and other support staff at NACIN, Palasamudram, on the ill effects of plastic pollution. Cloth bags were distributed as a symbolic and practical step towards reducing plastic dependency.

A pledge was taken collectively to minimize plastic use, followed by the formation of a human chain with the resounding message: "Say No to Plastic." This initiative reflected not just environmental responsibility, but also the spirit of inclusivity and community engagement by the Officer Trainees.

The program featured impactful talks by distinguished IRS officers, highlighting the harmful impact of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free life. A moving mime performance by the IRS Officer Trainees vividly portrayed the harsh realities of addiction, leaving a lasting impact on the young audience. The students actively participated in a slogan writing competition, channeling their creativity to raise awareness and reaffirming a shared commitment to a drug-free future. The event served as a meaningful step towards building awareness and empowering the next generation to say no to drugs.

More than 400 participants attended, and various queries related to NPS and UPS were addressed in a very clear and engaging manner.

An epitome of care, compassion & community — the Social Service Committee of 76th Batch of IRS conducted a Health Camp at NACIN, Palasamudram.

With the support of 6 dedicated doctors from the Batch and 25 volunteers, the camp provided free consultations, medicines, and care to over 150 individuals — including construction workers, housekeeping, security and mess personnel from in and around the campus. Awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, oral health, tobacco reduction, and sanitation were also held to promote healthier habits and a cleaner, more conscious campus.

As the camp concluded, it left behind a deep sense of fulfillment — a community coming together to give back to those who quietly support its daily functioning. It was not just an event, but a collective experience of empathy, purpose, and lasting impact.

1. On 27 Mar 2025, an MoU was signed between NACIN & IMU at IMU HQ, Chennai, by Shri Gaigongdin Panmei, Pr. DG, NACIN & Dr. Rajoo Balaji, Pro VC (on behalf of VC), IMU, in the presence of Smt. Aruna N. Gupta, Member, CBIC.
2. The event was graced by Dr. M.G. Thamizh Valavan & Dr. K. Ezhilmathi (ADGs, NACIN), Shri K. Saravanan (Registrar, IMU), and Dr. P.J. Rangachari (Director, IMU Chennai Campus), along with senior officials from both the Institutions.
