The Phase III Mid-Career Training Programme for IRS (C&IT) officers of the 2014, 2015 & 2016 batches commenced today at NACIN Palasamudram. Marking a first, the programme is being conducted entirely in-house from 27.07.2026 to 21.08.2026 and was inaugurated by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Pr. Director General, NACIN.

The Two Day Training programme for Hon'ble CESTAT Members was inaugurated by Dr. M Subramanyam, Pr DG on 24th July 2026 at NACIN Palasamudram.

Pr ADGs Shri Peri Umasankar and Shri Suresh Babu Bodduluri, ADG Shri P Gopakumar were also present.

The programme is aimed at fostering knowledge sharing and Strengthening institutional understanding in the areas of Customs, GST, anti'smuggling operations, and digital systems.

NACIN, Palasamudram today i.e., 13.07.2026 inaugurated a 5-day training programme (13th –17th July, 2026) on 'GST & Customs' for IRMS (Accounts) Officer Trainees. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Steephen L, Additional Director General (OT Wing), followed by the Inaugural & Keynote Address by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN. Shri Peri Umasankar, Principal Additional Director General, NACIN, also graced the occasion. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri M.V.D. Praneeth, Joint Director & Course Director, wishing the officer trainees a productive and enriching learning experience.

Pr. DG NACIN Dr. M. Subramanyam inaugurated a week long Training Programme for officer trainees of Indian Trade Services (ITS) and Indian Corporate Law Services (ICLS) at NACIN Palasamudram.

The programme brings together 6 officers from ITS, along with 8 officers from ICLS, for one week of learning. The programme will focus on ITS and ICLS probationers being exposed to GST and related laws, concepts of supply in GST, ITC, RCM, etc. along with an overview of customs act, international trade and related concept, trade policy, SEZs, and customs.

Pr. DG NACIN Dr. M. Subramanyam inaugurated the ITEC International Training Programme on Passenger Interdiction Techniques, Trade Facilitation & IT Systems at NACIN Palasamudram. Shri Peri Umasankar, Pr. ADG, welcomed the participants.

The programme brings together 20 officers from Cambodia, Jordan, Tanzania, Cameroon, Liberia, Morocco, Mauritius, Guyana, Philippines, Bangladesh & Nigeria, along with 2 officers from Indian Customs, for two weeks of practitioner-led learning.

The programme will focus on passenger interdiction, trade facilitation, IT systems, risk-based approaches, field exposure and peer learning, strengthening Customs cooperation and professional networks across partner administrations.

NACIN Palasamudram organised a one-day Focused Dialogue on “Drug Abuse Prevention, Mental Health & Institutional Coordination” on 15 June 2026 under the guidance of Dr. M. Subramanyam, IRS, Principal Director General, NACIN.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ganesh Dutt Lohani, IRS, Director General, DRI, who highlighted the need for a whole-of-society approach to address the growing challenge of drug abuse and its linkages with mental health and youth vulnerability.

The Dialogue brought together officers of CBIC, DRI, CBN, State Anti-Narcotics Task Forces of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Educational institutions, Mental health professionals, NGOs, Rehabilitation practitioners and NACIN orientation trainees on a common platform for meaningful engagement.

The Dialogue featured expert sessions and panel discussions on vulnerability and adolescence, mental health, emotional resilience, the role of schools and families, emerging drug trends, behavioural concerns and institutional coordination.

Deliberations underscored that effective drug abuse prevention requires coordinated action by enforcement agencies, educational institutions, families, healthcare professionals and civil society. Participants emphasised the importance of early intervention, awareness, mental health support and stronger institutional linkages to build resilient and drug-free communities.

A three-week Orientation Training Programme for Batch XVI Group ‘A’ IRS (C&IT) promoted officers, being conducted by NACIN Palasamudram from 08.06.2026 to 25.06.2026, was inaugurated by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN, in the presence of Shri Peri Umasankar, Pr. Additional Director General,NACIN and Shri P. Gopakumar, Additional Director General, NACIN. The programme aims to enhance the professional competence, leadership capabilities, and administrative effectiveness of the officers.

Following the Passing out Parade of the 76th Batch of IRS (C&IT) officers, Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, IRS, Chairman, CBIC, along with CBIC Board Members and Pr. DG NACIN, and other senior officers of CBIC inaugurated three new world-class sports facilities — the Cricket Stadium, Football Ground and Athletics Track, and Outdoor Sports Complex — at NACIN campus, marking a landmark day for the Academy.

These state-of-the-art facilities will foster holistic development of IRS officer trainees.

Following the conclusion of the Passing Out Parade of the 76th Batch of IRS, Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, CBIC, in the presence of Members of CBIC and Pr. Director General, NACIN, interacted with the Officer Trainees and congratulated them on successfully completing their training.

He reminded the young officers of the high standards of integrity, professionalism and dedication expected of them in public service, and emphasised the importance of remaining grounded and connected to the realities of the citizens they serve.

Highlighting the critical role of the Department in facilitating trade and contributing to nation-building, he encouraged the trainees to uphold fairness, efficiency and sensitivity in the discharge of their responsibilities. He also urged them to approach their careers with humility, curiosity and a continuous commitment to learning while adapting to the evolving challenges of tax administration.

Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman of @cbic_india, congratulated the officers of the 76th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) on successfully completing their training in his address. He described the Passing Out Parade as a significant milestone in the transformation of a trainee officer into a dedicated revenue servant. He stated that this batch represents the country's diversity, talent, and capability, and includes officers from the Royal Government of Bhutan, which will further strengthen the administrative cooperation between the two countries.

The Chairman urged the officers to work with integrity, impartiality, professional competence, and the high ideals of public service. He emphasized the importance of technology-based administration, a collaborative work culture, and strengthening dialogue with the trade and industry sectors. Additionally, while congratulating the officers and their families for their excellent performance during the training period, he extended best wishes for the bright future of the newly inducted officers.

Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Finance, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, while addressing the Passing Out Parade of the 76th Batch of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) held at NACIN, congratulated the trainee officers and described the Indian Revenue Service as the backbone of the country's economic system. He stated that the CBIC is not limited to just tax collection, but is also playing an important role in trade facilitation, border security, preventing smuggling, and building a "Developed India 2047." Citing achievements such as railway electrification, highways, housing, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and the Mudra scheme, he said that India is rapidly moving towards becoming a modern and self-reliant nation.

In his address, he urged the officers to adopt integrity, sensitivity, and excellence as the core mantras of life. He said that through modern technology, faceless assessments, data analytics, and digital compliance systems, the CBIC is rapidly becoming a technology-driven organization. At the same time, he emphasized the need to remain vigilant against new challenges such as cybercrime, illegal trade, and smuggling. In conclusion, he stated that public service is not just a job, but a great responsibility towards the nation and its citizens.

The Passing Out Parade (PoP)of the 76th Batch of Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers was held at National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics Palasamundram on 23.05.2026, marking the successful completion of proffessional training by the officer trainees.

Sh. Pankaj Chaudhary, Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance attended the ceremony as Guest of Honour and inspected the parade during the ceremony.

The event was also attended by the Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, along with all Members of CBIC and senior officers of the department reflecting the significance of the occasion for the department and batch entering public service.

A 3-day workshop on “Navigational Excellence & Maritime Emergency Response” for Skippers and Skipper Mates was inaugurated by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN, in the presence of Shri Manish Mohan Govil, Principal Commissioner, Directorate of Logistics, Shri Peri Umasankar, Principal Additional Director General, NACIN, and officers from the DoL at NACIN, Palasamudram, from 21.04.2026 to 23.04.2026. The workshop aims to strengthen maritime operational preparedness.

NACIN Palasamudram convened a virtual meeting chaired by Shri Abhai Kumar Srivastav, Member (Admin & Vigilance), on 02.04.2026 with Pr. Chief Commissioners/Chief Commissioners & Pr. DGs/DGs across all zones of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs to ensure preparedness for #SadhanaSaptah under #MissionKarmayogi.

The meeting emphasized readiness for wide participation of officers during Sadhana Saptah. Pr. DG, NACIN also addressed challenges faced by iGOT users and shared practical solutions.

From South America, Africa and Asia — 33 officers from 22 countries are training together at NACIN Palasamudram under the Government of India’s ITEC programme on Anti-Money Laundering & Countering Terrorist Financing (2–13 March 2026).

Participants represent Customs, Police, Immigration, FIUs and specialised enforcement agencies, strengthening international cooperation against financial crime.

In continuation of the visionary Miyawaki plantation initiative of the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, launched in June 2025 along with school children at NACIN Palasamudram, the same students revisited the campus to witness the Miyawaki forest flourishing remarkably. The visit offered a first-hand demonstration of the Hon’ble Finance Minister’s emphasis on sustainable development, showing how native species–based plantations can rapidly restore biodiversity and ecological balance.

As part of the structured exposure and follow-up envisaged under this initiative, and facilitated earlier through the Hon’ble Finance Minister’s office, the students had also been taken to visit and study the world’s largest Miyawaki forest at Bhuj, Kutch further deepening their understanding of large-scale ecological restoration and sustainability practices.

Organised through the joint efforts of the Social Service Committee and the Sustainability Committee of the 77th Batch of IRS, today’s programme enabled the students to once again engage with the Miyawaki plantations at NACIN and witness the tangible growth and impact of their earlier efforts, reinforcing the values of environmental stewardship and continuity of action.

The visit also included career counselling sessions, where students were introduced to diverse career pathways and encouraged to think ambitiously about their futures. An interactive session with Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN further enriched the experience, as he engaged with the students and shared insights drawn from public service and leadership.

Through such sustained engagements, NACIN aims to build long-term relationships with young minds, moving beyond one-time events to create meaningful and lasting impact in their educational and personal journeys.

A one-week hands-on training programme on GSTN Front Office and Back Office modules for the Officer Trainees of the 76th batch concluded successfully at NACIN Palasamudram. The programme was conducted by faculty from the Goods and Services Tax Network and provided practical exposure to system workflows and functionalities.

The immersive training proved to be a highly enriching learning experience, significantly enhancing the trainees’ understanding of technology-driven GST administration. To commemorate Martyr’s Day, the Social Service Committee of the 76th and 77th batches at NACIN Palasamudram organised a Blood Donation Camp. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the entire campus community.

A total of 74 units of blood were donated, led by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN. The collected blood will support life-saving paediatric cardiac surgeries at Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.

The successful conduct of the camp reaffirmed NACIN’s strong commitment to humanitarian service, social responsibility and the spirit of service to the nation.

Shri Anoop Gulab Gidwani, former investigator with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Hongkong, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 76th and 77th batches at NACIN Palasamudram. He drew extensively upon his professional experience in financial investigations, forensic accounting, expert evidence and related domains.

Through engaging narratives and real-life case studies, he demonstrated how matters that initially appeared limited in scope—such as cases of tax evasion—often unfolded into larger financial crimes or corruption-related investigations. The session helped trainees appreciate the importance of looking beyond surface-level facts, adopting a holistic investigative approach and recognising linkages across financial, corporate and corruption offences. The practical insights shared were particularly valuable as the officers prepare for demanding field assignments.

The Social Service Committee of the 76th Batch of IRS organised a fest on campus to raise funds for a social cause. Officer Trainees, senior officers and staff participated with great enthusiasm and contributed generously.

The funds raised were utilised to procure sports equipment and essential furniture, which were distributed to the Zilla Parishad High School, Buduli, in Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh. The initiative underscored the values of social service, collective responsibility and empathy, reflecting the trainees’ commitment to inclusive growth, community engagement and making a meaningful contribution to society as an integral part of public service.

Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, former Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 77th batch on port infrastructure and logistics.

Shri Gautam Ray, IRS (Retd.), interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 75th, 76th and 77th batches on the evolution and mechanism of the RoDTEP scheme.

The session traced the journey from earlier export incentive frameworks to RoDTEP, explaining its rationale, WTO-compliant design, remission methodology and operational aspects, and highlighting its significance in enhancing export competitiveness and ensuring neutralisation of embedded taxes.

Ms. Sudha Koka, Member, GST Appellate Tribunal, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 75th and 76th batches on issues relating to arrear recovery under GST and practical aspects of handling cases before the National Company Law Tribunal.

The session offered valuable insights into recovery mechanisms, coordination with insolvency proceedings, legal complexities involved in GST dues during corporate resolution, and best practices for effective and lawful enforcement.

Shri Ritvik Pandey, IAS, Secretary, Sixteenth Finance Commission, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 75th, 76th and 77th batches, along with senior officers of the MCTP Phase III (Mid-Career Training Programme) batch.

The session provided rich perspectives on Centre–State fiscal relations and public finance management, covering contemporary challenges in fiscal federalism, resource sharing, fiscal discipline and the evolving role of institutions in strengthening cooperative federalism and effective governance.

Shri Manish Sinha, CEO, Goods and Services Tax Network, interacted with the Officer Trainees of the 76th and 77th batches and shared valuable insights on the role of technology in facilitating ease of doing business under GST.

The session highlighted how digital architecture, data-driven processes, system integrations and continuous technological innovation have strengthened compliance, improved taxpayer services and enhanced transparency in the GST ecosystem, while also outlining future challenges and opportunities for technology-enabled tax administration.

On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, a bird watching session was organised for the Officer Trainees of the 76th and 77th batches. The session was conducted with the expert guidance of Dr. P. Pramod, Senior Principal Scientist, Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), and graced by the presence of Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN.

NACIN Palasamudram, with its beautiful green campus and the adjoining Palasamudram Lake, is home to a rich diversity of bird species and provides an excellent natural setting for bird watching and nature-based learning.

The interactive field experience sensitised the trainees to the rich avian diversity of wetland ecosystems and helped inculcate values of conservation, ecological balance and environmental consciousness, reinforcing the importance of sustainable and responsible public service.

The two-week ITEC Interdiction Training Programme was inaugurated today at NACIN with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, followed by an inaugural address by Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN, and a welcome address by Ms. Aarti Saxena, ADG. The programme has been carefully curated to provide field-level officers a holistic exposure to interdiction, risk management, trade facilitation, and the systems that interlink them into a seamless operational framework.

The programme is designed as an immersive learning journey-covering field-level interdiction, risk management, passenger and air-cargo controls, and exposure to systems such as National Customs Targeting Centre (NCTC). Through practitioner-led sessions, participants will explore how trade facilitation and enforcement are interwoven to enable effective, timely, and seamless Customs operations.

The programme brings together Customs officers from Maldives, South Sudan, and Mongolia. Day 1 concluded with interactive group discussions, where participants mapped operational challenges drawn from their own field experience. These discussions will anchor the programme over the next two weeks, as officers collectively examine practical responses, share approaches, and translate learning into actionable outcomes relevant to their respective Customs administrations.

Republic Day was celebrated with pride and solemnity at National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, Palasamudram, in the presence of Dr. M. Subramanyam, Principal Director General, NACIN, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Officer Trainees of the 75th and 76th Batches of IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) presented a splendid parade, displaying exemplary discipline, synchronisation, and a deep sense of pride.

In his address, the Pr. DG underscored that Republic Day is a reminder of the constitutional values of integrity, discipline, and service to the nation. He emphasised that NACIN shapes officers of character as much as competence, and urged the trainees to make the most of their training and prepare themselves to shoulder responsibilities with professionalism and commitment.

Shri Rajesh Jindal, Pr. DG, Directorate General of Systems and Data Management, addressed officers of the 76th Batch of IRS, who underwent hands-on training on ADVAIT (Advanced Analytics on Indirect Taxation). The programme provided practical exposure to advanced data analytics tools and their application in risk assessment, compliance management, and data-driven decision-making in indirect taxes.

He also interacted with officers of the 75th Batch of IRS, currently attending the Furbisher Course after gaining field experience. The interaction focused on operational issues faced in the Systems domain and constructive discussions on the scope for further enhancement, modernization, and user-centric improvements of tax IT systems.
